BeachcomberinVenice.com is provided by The Beachcomber Apartment
Association, Inc., an association of owners at the Beachcomber condominium, located on the beach in
Venice Florida. Seventeen (17) of the 18 units at the Beachcomber are routinely available to rent.
Each unit
in our L-shaped, masonry, two story building has an unobstructed
view of the Gulf of Mexico and the spectacular sunsets which dazzle and delight every night. The
Association provides maintenance, grounds-keeping, housekeeping, and laundry service, linens &
towels, reservation and billing services for each owner so that you, the guest, will be assured
consistent, professionally managed accommodations. No pets allowed on premises. That said, each unit is furnished
uniquely, expressing the personal tastes of the owners. Large units sleep 6 (in beds) and can accommodate groups, families, or a couple just wanting to have the comforts of home. Most units “sleep 2”. Ask about the sleeping accomodations provided when more as it varies by unit. Children are welcome and stay free when under the age of 6.
The Beachcomber is a charter member of the
Venice Chamber of Commerce and we have enjoyed a close relationship with them over the years.
Together we have seen the sleepy town of Venice Florida, founded in 1925 as the (former) winter home of
the Barnum & Bailey Circus, grow to the wonderful blend of small and large that it is today (the
town just grew too big to have elephants parading from the train station through town to
the winter quarters). Every conceivable shopping convenience is just minutes away and yet the
quaintness of Historic Venice
downtown has been preserved. The stretch of beach around Venice is one of only a few places on the planet where shark teeth
routinely wash up on the beach – the genesis of our condominium name – and Venice is actually an island, albeit well connected to
the mainland and freeway systems by bridges at each end of town.
Venice Island is quaint, quiet, safe, clean, and almost always sunny. Historic downtown, a mile away,
is full of artsy shops, restaurants, and much more. Parks, hiking and bike trails, golf, boating on the
Inter-coastal Waterway or the Gulf, water sports, fishing at the pier, jetties, or chartering a boat,
flying, sailing, parasailing, dining, movie theaters, & shopping – Just about anything you want
to do is a short walk or drive away. On the other hand, I’ve always thought of Beachcomber as the place
where time just seems to evaporate. It’s the place where I can forget about the workaday world.
Walking the beach (looking for shark teeth of course), reading a book, sunbathing,
swimming in the Gulf or the heated pool, I never seem to find time to do all the other stuff. It’s a
vacation paradise.
Venice Florida is a delightful destination for those who seek a crowd-free, unspoiled beach retreat.
It has been voted the #1 place to live and retire. One of our young guests recently exclaimed "Its better than Disneyland!"
